INTERACT CONFERENCE 2007 & 50 YEARS OF COMPUTING IN IRELAND AWARDS

Bringing together Ireland’s senior IT executives, North and South, to foser co-operation on common future goals.

The BCS Belfast Branch and the Irish Computer Society co-present Interact 2007, a joint conference that takes a unique all-island perspective on the future of computing in industry, the public sector and people's everyday lives.

Among the key objectives of the conference are the creation of an independent all-island forum in IT in public policy and the establishment of a North-South CIO/CEO Forum.

Day One of the event has a dedicated public sector focus.

Joint ICS/BCS conferences were a regular annual occurrence throughout the 1970s and 1980s but lapsed some twenty years ago. The societies are reviving the event this year to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the first computer installation on the island and the societies’ own respective fortieth and fiftieth anniversaries.

In tandem with the Interact conference, the 50 Years of Computing in Ireland Awards aim to recognise key individuals, or groups of individuals, who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of computing on the island of Ireland over the last fifty years. Interact 2007 takes place over three exciting days, from 19 – 21 September 2007, at the new Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Dublin. The 50 Years of Computing Awards take place on the evening of Thursday, 20 September.

Registration for this event is now open – See www.ics.ie/interact for details and bookings.
